Casino Gambling Games

Now here is a man who believes in thinking ahead. The Malaysian Information, Communication and Culture Minister recently stated that the regulation, licensing and control of online gambling and online casinos would be better for Malaysia in the long run. Efforts of the police to combat illegal gambling have been futile in the past especially since there is such a escalating demand for the services of illegal bookies and sports betting agents.

The Minister is proposing a much simpler and more effective method than hostile police raids. He is proposing that the government form a commission to supervise and keep control of licensed gambling in Malaysia.

Illegal sites alone are generating wagers with over 10 billion RM annually. The Minister suggests that maintaining regulations would bring down illegal activities and generate revenue for government coffers.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim addressed a delegation of Indonesian Journalists association in Kuala Lumpur and explained that if gaming licenses were implemented according to certain rules, it would be possible for the government to curb illegal gambling.

Gambling has is supporters and its critics among Malaysian government authorities and is a topic that is constantly debated upon. The Minister however believes that sports gambling is quite similar to betting on horses or purchasing a lottery ticket and therefore allowing it in the country would do no great harm. In fact the Minister firmly stated that it should be regulated and that online gambling should not be discriminated against. He also said that the government had to take into consideration the social rights of non Muslims in the country.

The anti gambling Muslim groups have been fervent and pushy about ensuring that the government does not make positive changes in the gambling law. Such religious groups condemn gambling as an evil and destructive activity despite the fact that there are several people who enjoy and appreciate online gambling.
